Using AI widely is not the same as building AI capability, and I had been confusing the two.

What does all that AI activity add up to?

You hear about a good result from ChatGPT. Someone shows you an assistant they have built. A colleague comes back from training with ideas. There are signs of progress.

It can still be difficult to judge how far the organisation has come. AI may know little about your business, have limited access to useful information and operate apart from the tools people rely on. People may be unsure when to trust it or what else they could ask it to do. Useful discoveries may stay with the person who made them.

What could your people achieve with the right support? What work could they take on that currently feels beyond them? How much of today’s progress would survive a change of people?

The AI Empowerment Gap is the gap between using AI and harnessing its power.

This workshop helps you recognise that gap in the context of your own organisation and understand what it would mean to close it.

What you will leave with

  1. A clearer view of your own organisation

Recognise where people may be struggling, where progress is fragile and where opportunities could be going unexplored. Use your answers to identify what deserves a closer look.

  2. A more ambitious picture of what is possible

See what it means for people to use AI safely, effectively and judiciously in work that matters, including work they could not previously attempt. Understand how that capability can become a lasting organisational strength.

  3. A starting point for action

Consider a few first actions you can take back to work and recognise the issues that need your involvement as a leader.

Bring your own organisation to each question

Each part of the session starts with a question about your organisation. You give your answer, see how the room responds and hear Fahed explain why that question matters.

The short teaching sections explore what is at stake, what a stronger position looks like and some first actions you could consider.

As Fahed teaches each idea, you apply it to your own organisation in the workbook. You leave with your completed workbook, capturing your answers, reflections and conclusions so you can return to them after the session.

Fahed Bizzari

Fahed has spent more than two decades helping organisations systemise their work and make better use of technology. He began teaching professionals to use ChatGPT in person in early 2023.

Those workshops showed him how quickly individual progress can fade when the organisation around people stays the same. That experience shaped his work on AI empowerment, his book and Bellamy Alden, the AI Empowerment Company.
